At the turn of the millennium five Iowa farmers (gathered together by Mary Boote) took on a new challenge. Bill Horan, Tim Burrack, Reg Clause, along with Bill Northey and Craig Lang came together to create an organization dedicated to amplifying farmers' voices.

In 2025, the GFN is celebrating its 25th year. Throughout this quarter century the reach and sophistication has grown. The network is strong and expanding through our Roundtable and Communication Training program, whereby each new member is given enhanced training and officially joins our global family.
The knowledge transfer and collaboration among farmers across distances and borders is spectacular.
