Recognizing the International Year of the Woman Farmer adds even greater impact to that message. Women farmers are leaders, innovators, and change-makers—driving progress and deserving global recognition for their vital contributions.
One inspiring example is Gaytri Devi, India, who integrates growing small grains alongside her “Kitchen Garden.” In this way, Devi demonstrates new technologies and seeds, transferring knowledge to other farmers. Her farm serves as an experiential learning hub for both youth and farmers. She also collaborates with fruit growers, helping them access advisory services, adopt technology, and connect farmers with peers who are implementing best practices.
