Speaking directly to a farmer is the most effective way to authentically understand on-ground realities and gain a forward-looking perspective. Guillermo Breton, a farmer from Mexico, provided 40 members of the Illinois Corn Growers an update on the current state of agriculture in his home country. The focus of the August 23, 2023 virtual meeting was on the impending bans that had been set in motion by Mexico's current President – bans that included genetically modified (GM) corn and glyphosate. Breton is a member of the Global Farmer Network.
