Regenerative Agriculture:
A Farmers’ Declaration.

Everyone’s talking about regenerative agriculture — but the people who actually regenerate the land have too often been left out. Eight farmers from eight countries changed that, writing a declaration from the dirt up, not the boardroom down.

Over three days in April 2025, eight operationally diverse farmers from eight countries — across no-till row crops, livestock rotation, aquaculture, and small-holder systems — gathered on a farm in Maryland to draft a declaration on regenerative agriculture. Hosted by the Global Farmer Network®, the declaration is not a top-down definition. It is a living statement of shared principles, written by farmers, for farmers.

More than 1,000 farmers and agricultural leaders from 60+ countries have signed. We invite you — farmer, advocate, partner, or consumer — to add your name and amplify the voice of those closest to the land.

The Declaration

Five shared principles, rooted in real-world practice.

  1. Soil health, water quality, and biodiversity

Regeneration starts in the soil. We farm in ways that build organic matter, protect watersheds, and welcome the diversity of life that healthy land depends on.

  2. Dignity and prosperity for rural communities

Healthy land needs healthy people and healthy economies. Regenerative agriculture must deliver fair returns, opportunity, and pride to the families and communities that grow our food.

  3. Science, technology, and traditional knowledge

Regenerative practice is not a rejection of innovation. We integrate the best of modern science and proven technology with the deep, place-based knowledge that farming families have stewarded for generations.

  4. Intergenerational leadership and peer-to-peer learning

Farmers learn fastest from other farmers. We commit to mentoring the next generation, sharing what works across borders, and centering farmer voices in every conversation.

  5. A living, locally-adapted practice

Regenerative agriculture is not a single recipe. It is shaped by geography, climate, crop systems, and culture. We invite farmers everywhere to align around shared values — regardless of label, certification, or market.
