The 2018 Global Farmer Roundtable is scheduled for Oct 16-17 in Des Moines, Iowa – coinciding with the week of the World Food Prize Borlaug Dialogue and International Symposium. As the Roundtable approaches GFN is introducing this year’s participants.  So let's get to know a little bit about Atsumi (Amy) Goto, and she happens to be the first GFR participant from Japan…   Farmer:  Atsumi (Amy) Goto  Country:  Japan  Where is your farm located?   My family farm is located on the southern tip of Japan in Kumamoto Prefecture. All of our fields are located with a 28 km radius of our hometown    What does your farm look like? What is the size of your farm? What do you grow or raise?  I work with my father and two older brothers on our family farm.  I currently produce Japanese Green tea on 10 ha with the traditional method called Kamairi-cha.  We also raise about 20 beef cattle -for breeding – which feed on forage as well as homemade rice silage.      What are you looking forward to most as you prepare to participate in the 2018 Global Farmer Roundtable?  I believe that the Roundtable will be an awesome experience.  It is exciting to learn about the agricultural scene in various parts of the world.  [caption id="attachment_43800" align="alignnone" width="1024"] Atsumi is the first person from Japan to attend the Global Farmer Roundtable.
