The 2018 Global Farmer Roundtable is scheduled for Oct 16-17 in Des Moines, Iowa – coinciding with the week of the World Food Prize Borlaug Dialogue and International Symposium.
As the Roundtable approaches GFN is introducing this year’s participants. So let's get to know a little bit about Atsumi (Amy) Goto, and she happens to be the first GFR participant from Japan…

Where is your farm located?
My family farm is located on the southern tip of Japan in Kumamoto Prefecture. All of our fields are located with a 28 km radius of our hometown
What does your farm look like? What is the size of your farm? What do you grow or raise?
I work with my father and two older brothers on our family farm. I currently produce Japanese Green tea on 10 ha with the traditional method called Kamairi-cha. We also raise about 20 beef cattle -for breeding – which feed on forage as well as homemade rice silage.
What are you looking forward to most as you prepare to participate in the 2018 Global Farmer Roundtable?
I believe that the Roundtable will be an awesome experience. It is exciting to learn about the agricultural scene in various parts of the world.
